Congressional Draft Resolution
Whereas, we the grateful citizens of the United States are forever indebted to our fellow Americans, who have sacrificed their lives and bodies to maintain the freedoms we enjoy, and
Whereas, we the People of the United States of America desire to acknowledge to the Men & Women of the Armed Forces our appreciation for their service and sacrifice.
We Hereby Resolve
That to forever honor all members of the Armed Forces who have served our Country, we the Congress of the United States of America designate the 2nd Tuesday of November a national holiday which shall henceforth be known as Veterans Day. This date will coincide with the date of our national election to remind future generations of the sacrifice made to ensure their right to vote in a free and open democracy.
We Hereby Resolve
That all members of the Armed Forces who have lost their lives in a declared military conflict shall be honored by this Nation, by exempting their immediate surviving mothers, fathers and spouses from all future Federal Income Tax for the rest of their lives.
We Hereby Resolve
That all members of the Armed Forces who have suffered a permanent debilitating injury in a military conflict shall be honored by this Nation, by an exemption from their personal Federal Income Tax liability equal to the percentage of their disability for the rest of their lives.
We Hereby Resolve
That all members of the Armed Forces who are declared a Prisoner of War (POW) or Missing in Action (MIA) in a military conflict shall be honored by this Nation, by exempting their mothers, fathers and spouses from Federal Income Tax for the period in which the service member is declared a Prisoner of War or Missing in Action.
